About

Sunflower Magazine is a quarterly print and digital publication dedicated to the art of discovery.

We believe the most exciting work in the world isn’t hanging in the major museums—it’s in the studio down the street, the converted garage, the shared workspace, the group chat where someone just sent a photo of something they made at 2am. Sunflower exists to find that work and give it a proper stage.

What We Do

We publish three things, and we publish them with care:

Art Travel. We go places—Venice, Jaipur, Mexico City, Baroda—and we tell you what’s actually worth seeing. Not the tourist checklist. The studios, the residencies, the neighbourhoods where artists live and work and argue and eat.

Up-and-Coming (Mostly Indian) Artists. India has one of the most vital, restless, and under-documented art scenes on earth. We profile the painters, printmakers, ceramicists, digital artists, and street artists who are defining what comes next—before the auction houses catch up.

Arty Subjects. Colour. Process. Ethics. The studio visit. The artist statement. The strange economics of making things. We write about the ideas that surround the work, because art doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

Why “Sunflower”?

A sunflower turns to face the light. It grows fast, in unlikely places, and it doesn’t need permission. That felt right for a magazine about emerging artists.

It also gave us our signature feature: “One Sunflower” —a single sunflower-themed work, in any medium, from one artist, on the back page of every issue. A small ritual. A recurring invitation.

Who We’re For

Artists who want to see their peers taken seriously. Collectors who want to find names before everyone else does. Travellers who plan trips around galleries. And anyone who has ever stood in front of something new and felt that quiet jolt of oh—this is happening right now.

Our Promise

We will not write artspeak. We will not chase hype for its own sake. We will not treat “emerging” as a polite word for “not yet good.” We will show up, ask real questions, and publish work we genuinely believe in.

Sunflower Magazine. Facing the light since day one.
